Playing the Blues

Blues and reggae artist Corey Harris, recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, will present a clinic on blues performance in the Bonchek House Great Room on Feb. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

That evening, Harris will perform with his band in the Barshinger Center for Musical Arts as part of the Sound Horizons Concert Series. Tickets for that event are $1 for students and $5 for College employees.

A high-profile figure in blues, Harris focuses on traditional American blues and related styles. His work also connects the African-American story of earlier centuries to the present generation. His most recent albums include Blu.Black (2009), Zion Crossroads (2007) and Daily Bread (2005).
